Le Flobisme
A new movement? Floscel AUBERT has created a new artistic movement, which he humorously calls “Flobism”.
For him, Flobism is:
- Working with an eco-friendly material: aerated concrete
- Sculptures inspired by travel, music, architecture, painting, gastronomy, and French elegance
- Reinterpreting existing objects through his own perspective (statues, games, bottles, bags, etc.)
- Painting with dots: he calls it “pointism”! An infinite layering of dots (in the spirit of Aboriginal paintings)
- Playing with words and creating wordplay whenever possible: “Nuirart”, ChoCo chaRnel, Miss d’Or, etc.
Working with an eco-friendly material: aerated concrete
Aerated concrete lies at the heart of the creative process. Lightweight, soft, and easy to carve, it allows for great freedom of form while offering a unique working comfort.
Beyond its technical qualities, this material is part of a responsible approach. Often sourced from offcuts or reclaimed pieces, it is reused, transformed, and elevated through each artwork.
This choice reflects a desire to create differently: to give material a second life and reveal its artistic potential.
Sculptures inspired by travel, music, architecture, painting, gastronomy, and French elegance
Each sculpture is a synthesis of multiple influences. Travel shapes the forms, colors, and symbols, while music, architecture, and gastronomy further enrich the visual universe.
This diversity of inspiration gives rise to hybrid works, where cultures meet and interact.
French elegance brings a touch of balance, refinement, and coherence to this eclectic ensemble.
Reinterpreting existing objects through his own perspective (statues, games, bottles, bags, etc.)
Flobism playfully revisits familiar objects, reinterpreting them through a personal artistic lens.
Statues, games, bottles, bags… these everyday or heritage items are transformed, reimagined, and reinvented.
This process of reproduction is never a mere copy, but a transformation. Each object becomes a unique artwork, defined by the artist’s style, colors, and universe.
Painting with dots: he calls it “pointism”!
An infinite layering of dots (in the spirit of Aboriginal paintings)
“Pointism” is a strong visual signature of Flobism.
This technique is based on the meticulous accumulation of dots, applied one by one, creating effects of texture, depth, and movement.
Inspired in particular by Aboriginal paintings, this approach brings the surface of the sculptures to life, adding rhythm and vibrancy.
Each work thus becomes a dynamic composition, where color is gradually built, point by point.
Playing with words and, whenever possible, creating wordplay: “Nuirart”, ChoCo chaRnel, Miss d’Or, etc.
Language is an integral part of the Flobism universe.
Through titles and wordplay, the artist extends his work beyond the material itself. These expressions add an extra dimension that is playful, creative, and sometimes unexpected.
Words become an extension of the artwork, inviting a different reading, blending humor, hidden meaning, and personal interpretation.
