About the Artist
Floscel Aubert was born in Coutances (Normandy, France) in 1966.
His father, a pioneer in organizing custom travel as early as the 1950s, took him around the world from a very young age.
It is therefore no surprise that, over time, he developed a passion for foreign cultures and languages, culinary arts, architecture, and art in general.
Floscel Aubert took over the family travel agency in 1990 and led his professional clients off the beaten path.
In 2020, when travel came to a halt, he needed something to occupy his mind. That’s when he felt the urge to create sculptures strongly inspired by his journeys.
The primary material he uses—cellular concrete—is both lightweight and soft. He began by sculpting Moai (replicas of the monumental statues from Easter Island), painted in the colors of Aboriginal art.
Step into his world, filled with sculptures inspired by his travels across the globe.
His Artistic Journey
He began wood carving in 2018. Then, in early 2020, he started recycling leftover pieces of cellular concrete, replacing wood with this material.
He works with an eco-friendly and easy-to-handle material: cellular concrete is lightweight, soft to carve, and environmentally friendly.
His initial idea? There wasn’t one. He simply wanted to stay busy and recycle leftover material—then the artwork followed.
His Style
Highly colorful, expressive, and playful. Inspired by his travels around the world (Africa, Oceania, America…)
